Today, the COVID-19 pandemic has made death a daily reality and has caused a change in the way in which the medical care of patients is carried out. Many of these elements are risk factors for developing adverse grief outcomes in the bereaved. For its best approach, it is relevant to know the process normal grief and complicated grief, the general risk factors and those present in a pandemic that could lead to an adverse result, the peculiarities of the process of death and grief in the current context and the recommendations for relatives and health personnel on how to approach these processes. In them, concerns appear that lead to regressive behaviors, somatic symptoms, irritability, separation anxiety, behavioral problems, withdrawal, sleeping difficulties, and changes in appetite. Special attention should be paid to the vulnerable population of children and adolescents and to the prevention of abuse. This article reviews the impact of quarantine on the mental health of children and adolescents and proposes recommendations to reduce the psychological consequences of confinement. As it progresses, the mental health burden is likely to increase and the responsiveness of the Health Network will be overwhelmed. The implementation of Psychological First Aid appears as a response element of the community. This article will expose its definition, evidence and essential concepts for the application of them in the current context of pandemic. Methods: A literature review is carried out. Psychological first aid involves providing immediate support to people experiencing a recent and serious crisis. These can be provided by anyone trained, being a community tool with the power to reach a large number of individuals. Distance communication resources could be an alternative to achieve greater coverage when using this psychological support. Results: The evidence on the training, implementation and effectiveness of psychological first aid is limited. This lack of evidence does not prove the absence of a useful effect, but rather the need for future studies on the effectiveness of these early interventions. Conclusions: Psychological first aid has emerged as a low-cost and potentially effective strategy in the context of a pandemic, justifying basic training in them, in preparation for other disasters. This pandemic is an opportunity for research, although there are doubts regarding the application of psychological first aid by remote means. Danissa Alé M., Yamil Quevedo L. International studies of the impact on Mental Health of epidemics and other disasters, place health workers as a risk group for the development of psychiatric symptoms. Recent research in countries that experienced the magnitude of the COVID-19 crisis before Latin America, show high levels of anguish, anxiety and depressive symptoms in health personnel, among others. There would be multiple risk factors, such as the fear of becoming ill or infecting others, poor working conditions and shortcomings in infection control strategies; in turn, greater experience, access to personal protective equipment, correct infection control procedures, and availability of psychological interventions would be protective factors. In Chile and in the rest of the world, measures have been taken for the mental well-being of the teams, however the evidence reveals that the most effective strategies are those that involve organizational changes and practical adaptations within the institutions. The role of team leaders and public policies that protect health workers are highlighted. There is, however, a dearth of models for providing evidence-based continuing psychological care. It cannot be postponed that society, and especially the authorities, become aware that protecting the mental health of health teams during and after the pandemic is a priority to correct the health and social crisis. Health workers are not only more exposed to contagion, but also to multiple emotional stressors and greater needs related to the care of their mental health. It is essential to develop strategies to ensure the well-being of health workers, which will have a relevant impact on the ability to respond to the health crisis. Method: An intervention strategy developed in the Clinical Hospital of the University of Chile, the Emotional Health Support Program, formulated from the review of updated literature and experiences of other institutions, is presented and discussed. Results: A program composed of five levels of intervention aiming to detect and attend to needs related to mental health at different levels of complexity in an individual and group basis was formulated . Discussion: There is evidence that supports the need for care for specific groups in this pandemic, including health workers. The PASE program is a feasible intervention to support the health workers who are on the frontline of action in the COVID-19 pandemic. A narrative review https://comunicacionymedios.uchile.cl/index.php/RPSC/article/view/67406 We are currently experiencing a pandemic caused by SARS COV 2, a virus that causes the COVID 19 disease. Both the manifestations of the disease and those derived from epidemiological conditions have reported a high incidence of neuropsychiatric manifestations, for this reason the challenge of differentiating between direct affectation or indirect effect of disease and the pathological mechanisms that underlie them is necessary in order to improve diagnoses and treatments, as well as to recognize the impact caused by living conditions during the pandemic, risk factors and future projections is a necessary work in order to optimize isolation measures and prepare us to face the consequences that the pandemic will have on our population.
