Resumen

La confianza institucional ha disminuido en América Latina en la última década. Investigaciones han explicado esta crisis desde una perspectiva socio-política, utilizando variables como la satisfacción con los servicios públicos, actitudes generales o características sociodemográficas. Este estudio, sin embargo, analiza el problema desde la perspectiva de los propios incumbentes. Tomamos como estudio de caso al Congreso chileno, que ha sufrido una de las peores crisis de confianza en el continente. Basado en 15 entrevistas en profundidad con diputados y senadores, se explora la articulación de los principales discursos de los miembros del Congreso respecto a las causas y dinámicas de la crisis de confianza institucional. Los hallazgos muestran que los políticos minimizan la magnitud de una crisis que consideran no es su responsabilidad resolver. En cambio, condenan, a los medios de comunicación por la cobertura injusta que, según ellos, ha deteriorado la opinión pública sobre los miembros del Congreso.
