This article presents a contrastive study of metaphors from news texts relative to the refugees’
crisis published in 2017 in Web pages of six newspapers, three of them are from Spain and
three from Russia. The objective of the analysis is to identify differences and similarities in
metaphors from six newspapers edited in two different countries and reconstruct the image
of the informative object offered by the media. The Spanish corpus is composed of national and
international news. The investigation has been realized in synchronic perspective and manages
by mixed methodology of journalism and linguistics studies. The analysis covers structural
study of metaphors in media text and exposes its relation with the current reality. The research
combines qualitative and quantitative look.
