Abstract

Chilean films about intimacy present Subjectivity as diluted, absorted and unfixed individuality. Some film criticism celebrate it and consider this gesture as a break, a disrrupción that implies a formal innovation on earlier films, jammed in sort of “figurative” and “militant” representation. In comparison, the newest Chilean cinema would entail overcoming both realism and political engagement. However, we state this expressive formal innovation does not mean a change of the concept “reality” implied in the films. It would remain mimetic as it would “reflect” the current conditions of individuality and, hence, this gesture would be more conservative than subversive.
