Abstract

The academic production developed by researchers affiliated with Peruvian universities in the field of communication sciences has been poorly documented and systematized. Therefore, this article analyzes the characteristics of such production based on a systematic review of scientific documents published in Scopus up to the year 2024. The results show that since 2008, 689 documents have been published, with a significant increase observed after 2018. The Peruvian universities with the highest scientific output are private institutions, mainly located in the capital city, Lima. Twenty universities have fewer than ten articles published in Scopus, while three universities have not registered any publications. The most common type of document is the scientific article, written in either English or Spanish. Finally, studies addressing topics such as marketing, organizational communication, and social media predominate.
